Journeys of Discovery

A Shamanic Drumming Group

2.00 - 4.30pm

Saturday 28th January 2011
at St Clether Chapel near Launceston

A monthly journeying and shamanic drumming group for all who are experienced in journeying shamanically and would like to learn and develop within a circle.

Also open to novices who are starting out on their journey. We are all here to learn from each other.

A warm and friendly group, we will join together in a community circle to journey with the drum. You do not need to be an experienced drummer as the emphasis is on our connection with spirit.

We shall also be exploring deeper into the world of the shaman and learning about healing, community and the many facets of nature, spirit and the light.

Sabar Drum Workshop Weekend
June 9th 10th 2012

The Sabar drum is similar in size to a djembe and is played combining both
stick and hand. This weekend of drum workshops will teach you exciting new
styles and rhythms in a relaxed and fun way.

Modou is an experienced teacher, who is from Senegal and comes from a long
line of griots (those families who are responsible for preserving the musical and oral traditions of the village/tribe). Modou is an experienced and patient teacher who regularly runs workshops at drum camps in the UK and Africa. He will be teaching Sabar for beginners and all levels. This exciting and lively style is traditionally often played at social gatherings. Modou has toured internationally since 1995, playing at WOMAD & LIVE 8 'Africa Calling’ at the Eden Project in 2005.
